You will be thinking of what big project students will be working towards ..... for example, they could be working towards a "living" museum, where they research a specific person or even a place in the Kalamazoo area, research the type of clothing or architecture for the time era.... for people find out what games they played growing up, what schools in the area they went to, etc. Then in the end, students could dress up as the person, or create a miniature of the place. The community could be invited to come and see the "living" museum (as people stop by each students area, a button could be pushed or a bell rung, and then that person would tell about themselves (as the person) or about the building (a a curator). Students would also have to learn about advertising, organizing, etc. to complete the project. Hope this helps.

Good to know that info! I am not sure how to make our concept map based off of that though. Would our center be "Living Museum"? We will have to brainstorm. I work tonight until 10ish so if you guys have any ideas post them on here and I'll check when I get home! Then we can put the map together in the next couple of days.

ReplyDeleteThat doesn't make sense to me because we would have 20 kids or so in a classroom and there are only 3 of us.
ReplyDeleteI think it can be more generic. I was looking the sample one about boats, and one of the arrows goes to "different types" then "plans" then "cost of." They didn't actually list all the specific types. So couldn't we just have our middle bubble be "living museum" then off of that do "famous people" or "important people" then "games" "clothing" "school" etc. off of that? It wouldn't make sense to me to actually research a bunch of different people for this concept map...but I could be wrong. Let me know what you think!
ReplyDeleteNo I completely agree with that Maggie! I think that we should do like 4 different areas. Maybe "people" "games" "important buildings" and "clothing"....maybe we could do a little bit of research and then in the middle put a specific year? like "Kalamazoo 1885" or something?? Or "1905" when WMU was founded. I feel like that could be an interesting year. I don't know. Just text me at some point cause like I said I'll be in and out :)

ReplyDeleteI think we should try to split it up....I don't know when we will all be able to be online at the same time. I am leaving for grand rapids in a couple hours and then work til 4 or 5 tomorrow, and have softball during the day Sunday and work Sunday evening.
